4 Things to Consider When Selecting a Warehousing Service
Tuesday, June 12, 2018
There are many things to consider when you’re selecting a warehousing service for your products. A warehousing facility must be located at the right place. It must have the necessary labor force and storage facilities that would keep the products of your company safe and away from harm or getting damaged.
Today, many distribution companies provide warehousing services. Making the right choices and decisions regarding the distribution facility for your products can make all the difference for your company and its reputation among the masses. Here are four things you must consider when selecting a warehousing service.
1 - Physical Location
When it comes to selecting a warehousing service, the first thing you need to decide is the physical location of the warehouse. You must decide in which area your business is serving so that the warehouse that stores your products must be near to that location. This will enable prompt deliveries of products to the customers. Another factor you must consider is the proximity of the warehouse to the carrier facilities. So that there are no problems related to the transportation of your products.
2 - Lease Considerations
As it turns out, today, a lot of distribution companies are offering warehouses on leases. Check if the warehouse you’re interested in is available on lease or not. Then there should be some other considerations as well, such as, is the warehousing service providing rail siding or trans-loading, does it offer rack or bulk storage facilities, and see if the service provides you seasonal contracts if your product is seasonal.
3 - Storage Requirements
Many companies produce items that are corrosive, hazardous, and flammable. If your company produces food items then there will be some unique storage requirements as well, like how will they treat and manage your products, do they even have sufficient labor to load and unload your products easily and conveniently without damaging your products? You must also check the environmental concerns as well, like if there are any streams or excessive pollution nearby that could possibly harm your goods.
4 - Labor Force
Some types of products need special care and attention so that they may be transported to the consumer end in proper shape and condition. When you have to select a warehousing service then you must make sure that the service has that kind of special labor support available or not. For instance, companies that produce chemicals need warehouses that have 24 hours support to make sure that such hazardous chemicals are not mistreated in any way.
Warehousing is an essential part of the whole supply chain system. Thus, it’s very important for a distribution company to offer services that meet the needs of various businesses. At Gateway Distribution Inc., we understand the importance of dependable, fast and safe transportation of goods around the world. Thus, regardless of the size and type of your products, we find optimal solutions to manage the warehousing and distribution of your products in a way that adds value to your products.
